Mountain riders : 2012 report of waste collection in moutains

Since 2001, Mountainriders promote sustainable development in French moutains. In this way, the association organizes waste collection in ski resorts. Thanks to the 7 200 volunteers, about 50 tons of waste were collected in a hundred of ski resorts (average of 500kg per spot). Of those 50 tons, only 37% were recyclable. This figure should call out our attention on our impact and the need to educate those around us about these issues.

Here are some eco-friendly actions to promote when you will enjoy the reopening of ski resorts:

  • Keep your waste in a bag in order to bring it to the next sorting point
  • Use recyclables or reusable products
  • Use products with few or no packaging
